The USFWS proposed listing the western yellow-billed cuckoo in late 2013, and currently includes it on the species lists for a number of counties in Oregon and Washington based on historical range as well as recent sightings. However, the lack of breeding records from the last 90 years and the infrequent nature of sitings suggest that the western yellow-billed cuckoo is an occasional migrant in Oregon and Washington.
