Wetlands, Critical Areas & Land-Use Planning

Grette Associates helps clients with land-use planning needs in areas where ecologically-sensitive habitats are present.

We work with landowners to identify and delineate wetlands, riparian buffers, shrub steppe, talus, and other critical areas in Washington and Oregon.  Through site assessments and field surveys, we define the presence, extent, and quality of those habitats in order to help project proponents with land-use planning decisions.  To support critical area assessments in aquatic areas, our dive team conducts underwater surveys to delineate eelgrass beds, identify macroalgae, and map substrates.  We routinely provide the following environmental services to serve planning needs in the Pacific Northwest:

  • Wetland Delineation, Rating, and Buffer Determinations
  • Riparian Buffer Assessments
  • Shoreline Assessments
  • Aquatic Vegetation Delineation
  • Eelgrass Delineation
  • Critical Area Assessments and Compliance
  • Feasibility Assessments
  • Re-zoning Applications
  • Ordinary High Water Mark (OHWM) Determination
  • Building Permits
  • Marine Habitat Improvement Analysis
  • Freshwater Habitat Improvement Analysis
  • Talus Habitat Surveys
