Restoration concept at Clear Creek, Pierce County
· Global Water Tanker Facility: Grette Associates staff conducted all permitting and agency coordination for a supertanker facility in Sitka, Alaska under contract to a design-build team. The project involved a FERC license amendment and Environmental Assessment to re-allocate water shares from industrial use to offshore water sales. Environmental issues involved included humpback whale feeding grounds, ballast water management and re-negotiating the Blue Lake hydro facility rule curve. The project, a joint venture between the Sitka Borough and a private construction company, has received all permits and awaits constructions.
· Terminal 3/4 Northern Expansion Project, Port of Tacoma: Grette Associates Staff was responsible for obtaining all required State and Federal permits for the proposed fill of Slip 1 in the Port of Tacoma, as part of the Terminal 3 / 4 Northern Expansion Project. Permitting included filling Slip 1, construction of an approximately 700-foot long pile-supported extension to Pier 3, and required mitigation actions for lose of 3.51 acre total includes the impacts to 0.29 acre of intertidal and shallow subtidal habitat. The mitigation plan involved converting existing subtidal habitat to intertidal and shallow subtidal habitat. Mitigation also included negotiations for relocating an existing mitigation beach in Slip 1 to Slip 5.
· Bannerwood Park/Richards Creek Culvert Replacement Project, City of Bellevue: Grette Associates provided construction monitoring and oversight of this culvert replacement and stream restoration project located in the Kelsey Creek watershed in Bellevue, Washington. An on-site biologist was listed as a permit condition and includes consultation regarding sediment control and placement of in-stream habitat structures.
· Terminal 30 Cruise Terminal, Port of Seattle: Because Terminal 30 is an existing facility and no in-water work was proposed, no in-water permitting was necessary for the Terminal 30 Cruise Terminal. However, Grette Associates staff assisted with negotiations between the Port of Seattle and the Corps regarding the environmental impacts of using the existing site as a cruise terminal.
· Terminal 91, Pier 91, Berths C & D, Port of Seattle: Grette Associates wrote a BE and EFH Assessment for this project in Elliott Bay. The Port proposed to reconstruct deteriorating timber pier structures at berth areas within Terminal 91 and to maintain existing upland infrastructure. |
