Oct 06, 2015
USFWS opens public comment period to discuss status of the Columbia River Distinct Population Segment (DPS).

The USFWS has determined that the Columbia River DPS of Columbian white-tailed deer may no longer meet the definition of endangered under the Endangered Species Act and should be reclassified to threatened.  The Columbia River DPS currently numbers more than 900 individuals amongst four viable sub-populations, satisfying downlisting criteria set forth in the species’ Recovery Plan.  The 60-day public comment period closes on December 7, 2015.  For more information, see
