The USFWS has determined that the Columbia River DPS of Columbian white-tailed deer may no longer meet the definition of endangered under the Endangered Species Act and should be reclassified to threatened. The Columbia River DPS currently numbers more than 900 individuals amongst four viable sub-populations, satisfying downlisting criteria set forth in the species’ Recovery Plan.
